Equipment:

Slow cooker or oven-safe casserole dish with lid

Frying pan

Forks for shredding

Let’s Make It Legendary

Step 1: Prepare the Pork

Start by rubbing your pork shoulder with smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper—this ensures every bite is infused with deep, smoky flavors.

Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat and sear the pork on all sides until golden brown. This step locks in the juices and gives it an irresistible caramelized crust.

Step 2: Set Up the Base

In your slow cooker or oven-safe dish, layer the sliced onions and minced garlic—these will release sweet, aromatic flavors as they cook.

Step 3: Combine the Sauce

In a bowl, mix together:

100 ml Texan Chipotle Sauce

200 ml chicken stock

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

2 tbsp brown sugar (optional)

Pour this smoky, tangy sauce over the pork, making sure it’s well-coated.

Step 4: Cook Low and Slow

Slow Cooker: Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours—the longer, the better!

Oven: Preheat to 150°C, cover with a lid or foil, and cook for 4-5 hours. Check occasionally to ensure there’s enough liquid.

Step 5: Shred & Sauce

Once the pork is fall-apart tender, transfer it to a cutting board and shred it with two forks. Skim excess fat from the cooking liquid and return the shredded pork to soak up all the flavors.

Step 6: Serve It Up
